Chiemsee Family Rest Center (Source: Webmaster's collection) In the late 1940s, the Family Rest Center at Chiemsee was a popular recreation facilities for EUCOM families only. Operated by the Berchtesgaden Recreation Area, the Rest Center accommodated about 180 persons, both in the long, low Rasthaus (along the lake) and in the annex (across the Autobahn). Single persons were not eligible to stay there, and about three-quarters of the married couples that vacationed there came with their children.
