POMCUS
section - Armored personnel carriers.
From the early 1960s through the 1980s, USAREUR had gradually
built up pre-positioned equipment and supplies, or POMCUS,
for U.S.-based divisions that would quickly reinforce NATO
forces, including V and VII Corps, in case of Warsaw Pact
attack. These stocks, together with theater reserve stocks,
were called war reserve stocks. POMCUS equipment could supply
six divisions, plus their support troops.
